Cycle time is not the same as speed
Dashboards reward the close. So a file that shuts in 48 hours looks like a win — until it reopens with a supplement, a re-inspection, and a customer who now distrusts the number you gave them. The official cycle time was great. The real one, measured from FNOL to genuinely-final, was miserable.
Speed that creates rework isn't speed; it's borrowing time from next month. The version worth chasing is a first report thorough enough that it doesn't come back — every entry point traced, every downstream consequence scoped, every finding tied to the photo that proves it. Close it once. That's the only cycle time that matters.
